Figure 8 Puffer Care

I have an extra 10 gallon lying around and I thought a firgure8 puffer would be interesting. From what I’ve seen it says 15 gallon minimum but would a 10 gallon work?

I have also never had a brackish or saltwater tank before and I am unsure how it works. It says they require a salinity of 1.005-1.008. Is there anyway I could just use a certain amount of salt per gallon?

As for feeding it seems I can only feed live foods. I haven’t been able to find what live foods are best. I can easily get ghost shrimp, but do they prefer snails? And will they eat larger snails?

Thank you for any advice you can give me. I have only ever kept freshwater tanks.

You need to get a hydrometer. It will test the salinity.

I have a fresh water puff and he eats ramshorn snails but his favorite is grindal worms.
