filter guard

How do I make a filter strainer guard for the intake of my canister filter and get it to stay on? I don't want to suck up any potential baby fish. I'm new with canisters so pardon my ignorance.

So I ended up taking the sponge from a sponge filter and rubber banding it on. I hope it works!

You can also use panty hose or a fine mesh media bag, cut to size and rubber band on.
