Filter media for Aqueon 75?

Ive been using the carbon cartridges that came with it but I'd imagine theres a cheaper/better option?

Aqueons have lots of 'empty' space. I use filter foam (same stuff used in ACs and marineland canisters), filter floss (polyfill) and biomedia in mesh bags. The cartridges for these filters are flimsy and fall apart in no time and really do not do much of anything. Hope this helps!
