I upgraded to a 29g tank this week and it came with a whisper 30 Bio bag filter....which does ev1 prefer? Bio bag or regular filters?

I perfer fluvals because you can customize the filter media. If it has the blue media cartridges STAY AWAY. Those types of filters are just one dimensional. Get yourself a fluval C series, or aquaclear, or even a fluval canister filter.

OK I will look into those..my 10g has the blue ones but new one has the bio

The problem with the blue cartridges is that you have to replace them because they fall apart, and they have carbon. The reason neither of those are good is because you want to keep the same media because it builds up beneficial bacteria that if you lose can harm the fish. Also, the carbon is built in, so if you need to dose meds, the carbon HAS TO be removed, and if you remove the whole cartridge then you lose your filtration. The filters I mentioned can be customized, and have much more filtration options then the whisper.

Yes I believe you were one of the ones who recommended it to me mine should be here today wohooo!

And if the fluval is a little to much for you check out the aquaclear
