Filter question!

Can I use any other type of filter media in my penguin bio wheel 100. Im sick and tired of filter pads. Can other media fit besides filter pads?!

There are mesh and wool sponges, carbon, and biomax inserts. I like AquaClear filter media the best.

It's my favorite filter by far! I currently have a Marineland, Aquaeon and Aquaclear all running and my AquaClear is my favorite. My Marineland makes a lot of noise and though turns over a lot of gallons per hour it has to be cleaned constantly because it clogs quick. The Aquaeon isn't too bad but isn't the best either. The AquaClear is probably the most quietest and efficient filter I have had, and you can adjust the speed and switch up your filter media as well!

honestly - the marineland is overrated imo.
Its noisy and the biowheel is simply a gimmick.

Aquaclear is hands down the BEST hang-on/power filter!
It has the greatest volume of media, it has flow rates higher than many canister filters, its quiet,
and best of all, its customizable.
You can put whatever media you choose - its so versatile.

Yep, I fell prey to the "bio-wheel" hype and bought a 150 for my 1st tank and a 200 for my 2nd tank. I also have an aquaclear 150 on my 1st tank and it is much quieter. I've been wondering how that wheel could possibly do what they advertise. Oh well.....live and learn

I think im going to switch over to the aqua clear cause my water goes from clear to cloudy then clear to cloudy and i really think its my penguin filter...it plain old sucks! And the filter pads are costing me a fortune.

since you already have a penguin biowheel filter, you can add the Aquaclear 20 (aka Aquaclear Mini).

These two filters will be a good combo for your 10 gallon
