If i were to go with 2 rainbow cichild, 3 keyhole cichlid, 1 redtail shark, 1 firemouth cichlid, and i want a blue acara in there. How many blue acaras could i put in there if any? Or would this be over doing it? This is a 55 gallon tank.

I just got started keeping cichlids but I do know the ones I have are very very territorial, so that may be a problem in your tank. You might want to check up on that before buying the fish. Maybe if you have plenty of hiding places or plants, or another way to break up the line of sight, they may not stress each other out too much. I know mine, in my moderately planted tank chase each other around the tank until one of them darts into the plants and loses the other one. so far it hasnt progressed beyond that, but then I only have 3 in a 30 gal tank, plus other dither fish that help keep the disputes down.
