Looks like a corydora, but the b arbs at his mouth look wrong, there are many types of corydoras though so it may well be, definitely some kind of cat fish

Look up "porthole catfish" ( Dianema longbarbis ). If it isn't that one in particular, it is closely related.

Thanks, looked at the porthole catfish which did look similar, while looking at those I've just come across the Hoplo catfish which looks spot on to me. Thanks for your help!

Definitely one of the two.
Portholes tend to be a little more streamlined towards the tail than the Hoplos. The angle of the pics might have made it look different than in real life. Either way, a great fish.

Looks exactly like my "new to me" hoplo - want another but have to special order them as noone in my area (N Ontario Canada) carries anything that "exotic"
