Does any one have any experience keeping Freshwater Limpets?

On an impulse (yah I know, bad, but we all get em) I bought two at the last local Aquarium club auction. By all I can tell they are snails with flat shells. I stuck em to the glass in my QT tank and they went right to work happily munching algae. They "seem" to even be eating the green spot stuff off the glass, but I will have to watch em a bit more before I really make that claim....

Anyways, has anyone kept them? what was your experience?

I have never kept FW Limpets, but have a multitude of SW Limpets in my SW tank. Very cool little creatures. If they are anything alike, they will devour the algae in your tank.

Thanks for the link Talloulou. Interestinf stuff. That page is typical of what I have found myself, some dry scientific data, but no "experieces" from caring for them. I can tell you, these guys are algae eating machines...you can see the clean tracks they leave all over the glass.
