Took same water to the lps to get tested while I was out, and the general hardness was measured at 300. Is that a problem for my fish? They seem like they are doing well to me. What is a good hardness value to shoot for? This may explain the calcium buildup I get on my hood. Also, why should I do to lower the hardness if needed?

mine is between 150-300 and my plants and fish do fine :)
Not a real concern unless you have wild caught soft water fish or are breeding discus, things like that.
