Is a PH of 8.5 bad for my goldfish?

The PH from my tap is 7.8 but after a few days in my tank it stays at 8.5. I haven't changed the water in a week and it is still stable at 8.5. The other water parameters are normal.

As long as it's stable it should be fine imo.

It's not bad because it's stable but the question is why it's going up. What substrate and rocks do you have in the tank? Any shells or coral?

I left some tap water sitting for 24 hrs and tested the PH. It turns out the water is also 8.5 after sitting. Why does the PH go up from just sitting there??
