I had guppies in the 70s. Never had a problem. I even breed them. Mine were not super colorful they were just kinda blah. I've been reading about a lot of people having weird problems with guppies and often in responses it's related that it's possibly inbreeding.

So, at the present time, where is the best place to advise a person to purchase their guppies? Are there any places that seem to carry less inbreed fish?

I'm interested in the answer to this as well... I've yet to be able to keep guppies alive for longer than 6 months. They don't show any signs of illness or attack, they just get lethargic and start hovering near the surface, then either disappear or wind up dead a few days later. Water parameters all seem fine (0/0/sub 20, 7.4 ph, 82F).
