Gooey bogwood

I bought some red wood root on Monday I weighed it down and put it straight into my tank and now there is like a snotty goo on all of the wood is this normal I have read it will be fine but I ain't sure I have took it out and going to let it sit in boiling water for a couple of hours

This is completely normal. It happens to all kinds of driftwood. The "slime" are bacteria in groups that build up on the wood. I threw in a couple snails when I had driftwood and they took care of it real quick. So you don't have to get rid of it, it just looks unattractive. It will go away in a couple weeks if you just leave it.
