I just got a dwarf gourami and he is already picking in the platies. Is it normal for them to get territorial? It seems as if he only nips when they go near a specific area of the tank!

Gouramis are indeed territorial fish but generally if you've got a good size tank they won't normally follow and harass other fish.

I had a DG in a 50-gallon community tank. I didn't notice him bullying, but my cories became a LOT more active immediately after he died (dwarf gourami disease).
I bet he was a bully.

Just an update! My DG is really territorial around a specific fake hair plant and the whole right wall of my aquarium! His aggression really spikes when he gets blood worms! Haha! Here's a pic of him (it's a pretty bad pic though)

The water isn't cloudy like that anymore, but sorry enjoy his tiny cuteness!
