Guppies eating plants

I have amazon swords in my aquarium. My guppies are always seen in then and nibbling at them. Do they eat plants? I've heard they eat the algae off them. Just not sure.

In my experience they just eat the algae, but have heard others claim otherwise.

Amazon swords are sturdy enough that guppies shouldnt be able to hurt them.

Offer them some blanched Spinach or other Greens
