Since I seem to be having VERY good luck with my lone male Fancy Gupp, and male swordtail, I figured that my tank must be a heaven for livebearers. So I've tentatively decided to stock only guppies, swordtails and platies.

So- taking in mind that I have no intentions of breeding (I won't cry if I wake up to a few extras), and the size of my tank (36g)- what should my stock plan be, and what ratios (male to female)?

Here's what I'm thinking:
1- Male Swordtail
2- Female Swordtail
1- Male Guppy
2- Female Guppy
1- Male Platy
2- Female Platy

Why the 1:2 ratio? Because that's what the AqAdivsor told me. If I should consider a different ratio, let me know.

EDIT: I'm also aware of the inter-breeding possibilites. That being said, my research tells me its a million to one chance of actually happening and the fry living, due to the genetics of the equation.

The ratio is because the male will constantly harass the females, therefore the harassment is spread out.

Good luck! I have a livebearer tank also.
I've had my tank set up for 6 weeks and I've had 2 batches of fry.
It happens!!!
Post pictures when it's all done!
