I was thinking of buying the red sea test kits, but then i saw the hagen kits are a little less expensive, plus you can buy refills for them, about $1.89 per bottle, and theres 3 bottles you need for the Nitrate kit and phospate kit. so that's like $6 for the refill, instead of $7.79

BTW the red sea kits are $10 and you can't buy refills. which one should i buy?

The only thing I don't like about the Hagen Nutrafin Phosphate test is the third reagent which is "self" dispensing is a little hard to get just one drop out which is all you're suppose to add. Often a bit more than one drop gets out, so I have to start the test all over. IMO, go with the Seachem PO4 test.

in a word 'no'...the hagen kits aren't all that great. they've had to recall nitrate kits in the past.

the seachem phosphate kit is as good as you can get unless you spend $60 on a LaMotte kit.
AP's nitrate kit isn't too bad, but the Red Sea is the one that's been recommended to me by 3-4 plant gurus.
