Hello, I recently found this block of pumice at Walmart for a $1.25 & w/a rough estimate found that is just a few pennies cheaper than buying seachem matrix.
The question I have is = has anyone ever tried this in their filters or canisters? Did it work for you? Do you think it can achieve a complete cycle & get denitrifying bacteria (anaerobic).
Not trying to get out of water changes but want nitrates to be one less thing to worry about. Note = it's 3in x 2in x 1.25in & has large pores. Your advice is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Have never used these, but it is similar in thought to using lava rock in bags from a big box store.

Just wondering if there is any mineral leaching, you should look it up and check what the content of pumice stone is.

Yes, you can use them! I have some in my Wife's tank which is currently cycling, no water parameter issues
