Help! Clear goo/slime/jelly in my tank.

I have a 23 gallon tank with cardinal tetras, rummynose tetras, and a bristle nose pleco. I’ve had the tank up and running for 5-6 years now. I do a roughly 25% water change about once a week.

Recently, things are off in my tank. My pleco is ignoring food and one of the tetras died. The dead tetra was floating at the top of the tank encased in some kind of clear gel???

Last night I put in a slice of zucchini for the pleco. He didn’t touch it and I just went to take it out, about 24 hours later, and the whole thing was encased in this clear goo. And it smelled terrible.

The rocks, plants, and driftwood in the tank don’t have any of the goo on them.

What the heck is this stuff? How do I deal with it?

That's mould. That will happen if you leave uneaten food in the tank too long or dont spot and quickly remove a dead fish.
