Help, White mold? On driftwood (pictures)

I set up my tank about 20 days ago and i got this piece of driftwood from a reptile store and boiled it untill it sunk and at first it had this thick layer of what looked like white snot and slime but i brushed it off and now its coming back a little different? Is this harmfull for my fish? Should i clean it off?

As far as I know that is normal and will go away with cleanings. Others will give advice but take it out and scrub it off during your next cleaning. Looks like the stuff I get. I think it goes away eventually.
