Help with the confusion

Ok so I have a green spotted puffer, otherwise known as Tetraodon nigroviridis.

I am finding a good deal of conflicting material as to whether or not this fish is indeed brackish.

This source, says its not.

and this site, can't seem to make up its mind
Spotted Green Puffer - Tetraodon nigroviridis
In the environment it says " Best kept in brackish water." but then in the Aquarium setup, it says "Often sold as brackish water species however this species should only be kept in freshwater."

Can someone point me to a definitive source on how to correctly identify this fish as either a nigroviridis (green spotted puffer) or a fluviatilis (green puffer), and if it is truly a brackish or freshwater species.

Many puffers can live in Freshwater as juviniles, but should be slowly acclimated to Brackishwater as Adults. They may be able to survive their entire life in Freshwater, but tend to be much more disease prone when kept this way. The ONLY species that I've heard of that is truly a Freshwater Puffer, is the Dwarf Puffer.
