Are caves really important as hiding places or could you just use a LOT of plants and maybe some DW?

The reason I ask is because I have two cave molds that I bought from petsmart and im thinking of rearranging my plants cause they're kinda all over the place and removing the caves but adding a few more pieces of DW in there place...

Pros, Cons, Suggestions???

And depends on your DW. My DW sort of naturally forms cave-like areas. Not a huge fan of artificial things in my tank personally but if your fish need them that's a different story.

Stacking driftwood with a wavy sort of shape can create great caves, some that can't even be seen! Just pile driftwood until you like how it looks and it locks together. However, for high ph loving fish it's probably not a great idea.
