The nitrite level in my 20g has been very high for several weeks and I can't get it to come down. I have tried adding salt, water conditioner, ammonia neutralizer, and multiple water changes. I am using test strips to test the water. All other measurements are within normal ranges but the nitrite level is consistently deep hot pink in color which appears to be off the scale. Suggestions?

Get a new test kit or have your readings confirmed. Water changes are the best way to reduce it.

The test strips might be your problem, especially if your other levels are normal. I'm assuming your tank was cycled before? Strips are notoriously inaccurate, try getting liquid tests. The API master kit is relatively cheap and accurate.
