High pH and Alkalinity

Using my 5 in 1 test strips (I know) I got about an 8.4 on the pH scale and about 300 Alkalinity. Both numbers are at the very highest the strips measure. I tested some water out of the tap and the pH and alk were also high, but a little lower than the tank. Should I be concerned? Can I do anything about it?

Well test strips are frequently inaccurate. Get a liquid reactent ph test kit, and then we will see

If your fish are healthy and happy, don't worry too much about it.

Best advice I've heard in a long time Never overreact to what a test kit tells you if things appear to be at peace in your tank. I've done this before with disastrous results. Your fish are the best indicator of water conditions you can get

I have similar water conditions and my Amazon fish do fine, just keep the ammonia and nitrates as low as possible and make sure to spend time drip acclimating new fish...

Good to hear, thanks guys. My fish all seem great, so I guess I won't worry.
