Have you ever thought about buying one of those battery operated (or electric) automatic feeders? I own one but haven't actually used it yet.
I guess you'd want to try it out ahead of time to make sure it works but they are available and aren't terribly expensive:

no need. even though its small.... it should be fine. fish dont eat every day like they do in our tanks. most fish are fine 1 week plus with out food.
