How can I remove hard water stains on glass and other things

I gave a friend of mine a 5 gallon freshwater setup a while back and he just recently rteturned it to me. The water in his city was unbelievable hard and there are hard water deposits on the glass and heater unlike and I've seen before. I've soaked the tank in lemon water and these stains are barely budging. Does anyone know of any other mathods to remove these hard stains?

Ive herd using vinegar works to remove calcium deposits, but I havent tried it.

mix salt with enough vinegar to make a paste and scrub scrub scrub-Anne

Try vinegar.. If that doesnt work try bleach then vinegar..

use with caution: I found that a copper scubbing pad worked very well. It didn't scratch the glass, but took off chunks of plastic.

I agree with the viegar. I have found nothing better.
