I know you look for breeding tubercles and I've already established the gender of my other two but this ones missing its gill covers. Where the tuber thingys would be located. Is there another way to tell?
Males tend to be more slender than females and females are usually kind of lopsided when viewed from above. Tubercles can appear on pectoral fins also.
Yep, the pectoral fins will have small bumps or bubbles on them as well as the gill plates. You can also 'vent' them- males will have a concave vent while femlaes have a convex (protruding) vent. Heres a link with some clear pics:
