How do you do effective water changes in LARGE aquariums?

That's ok for cold water, most outside faucets don't have the option for hot water, does it?

Nope, although tap temps here don't make a huge difference for most of the year.

I'm still a newbie at aquariums, but here are a few simple tips on siphoning. If out the window or door doesn't work/isn't convenient, look for other options. I live in a cold climate, and siphoning out the window would result in a miniature ice skating rink, so I siphon into our 1/2 bath toilet. Sinks, showers, and bathtubs are all great, and lots of furnace rooms will have a floor drain by the water heater.
also, if you use a hose adapter to fill the tank, you can also use it to start your siphon. Just turn on the water for a bit, then turn it off, unscrew the hose and let it drain.
