How many gouramis?

I decided to devote my ten gallon to a betta. Now I have to find the perfect betta.

Meanwhile back at the ranch I got a breautiful neon blue dwarf gourami but of course at another LFS where were were talking, they said gouramis should live in pairs. Is that true?

Aside from reading everything in the library and hanging out here, how can I learn about fish BEFORE I buy them?

Try looking the up here www.liveaquaria.com they have so great info when it comes to specific fish. I always check there first before buying

It's great to have pairs, if its a male and female, but two males will likely fight, also, betas and gouramis are from the same family, so IDK If they will fight

I have two males and a female gourami (not dwarf though) and the two males fight like crazy!

Gouramis tend to fight. Even pairs may kill each other unless its a big tank. It's very hard to find Dwarf Gourami females !!! They are plain silver and rarely imported.
