Hydor nano for freshwater?

I was recently wondering if I had enough circulation in my tank with an AC50's output at the center of the tank. I seen that some people use powerheads, but I was wondering about the hydor nano's that are used mainly for saltwater.

Anyone use them for freshwater for increased water circulation? Are they beneficial or harmful for planted tanks?

Rivercats uses one or two mini's for her 220 for extra flow. Depends on how big the tank is.
