I kinda messed up

So I just changed my filter media and did not keep any of the old media, my filter uses cartridges.

Will my tank go through another cycle?
Is there anything I can do to limit any negative effects?

While it's generally recommended that you not do that, most of the time, unless overstocked, you're fine. Just monitor your parameters and do water changes if necessary.

Uh-oh, got any friends with fish that you can get some media from?

None of my friends have any fish...
I really wish I would have know about the negative effects of changing media before today... didn't really look into it because I thought it would only be beneficial to add clean media to a tank obviously that is not the case.
