I agree with Mebbid. I've gotten rid of ich a few times with this method. IMO, it's the safest. No chemicals, no salt for fish/inverts. that can't handle it. Most fish easily tolerate 86 degrees, and it has gotten rid of the ich completely for me every time. Just be sure to keep the temp up for the FULL two weeks, and/or for several days after you no longer see spots. If you end the treatment early, it could very well come back.
 
Thank you I will try the heat treatment. I was worried that my fish wouldn't be able to handle temps that high. I've only had a tank for a couple of yrs.
I'm still a greenhorn at this.
 
The heat method didn't work for me. The ich just multiplied quicker and I lost a lot of fish who became completed covered with it. I've been fighting ich since early December and I think I finally beat it. The medication that finally worked for me was Esha Exit which I had to order on eBay from the UK.
