How old do you think it is? Probably like 8+ right? My Pasteur's wife got it from the college as a rescue. It looks like its in pretty bad shape. I thought it looked like a discus, knew it looked like a cichlid from having cichlids myself, but I only had mbunas, frontosa cichs, firemouths, and convicts. So I never actually thoroughly researched alot of others, but I def saw pictures in passing. I'm going to try to help her rejuvenate it because I'm guessing the water parameters are off for it because it doesn't look to bright or happy

Yes he looks a little ragged. The severum were commonly referred to being the poor man's discus years ago. With regards to the fishes age I would guess between 18-24 months possibly more if it was kept in poor water conditions.
