I'm looking to build an aquarium with these fish:
1 Female Dwarf Gourami
1 Male Dwarf Gourami
Not Sure How Many Cherry Barbs
Not Sure How Many Neon Tetras
Not Sure How Many Harlequin Rasboras or Black Harlequin Rasboras
6 Corydora Catfish

I'm looking for two things:
How many of each schooling fish should I get
What size tank should I get?

I could use all the help I can get.

I would say you definently want something more than a 20 and even a 29 may be a tad small depending on school size. I would say if you want to do schools of 5 fish each you probably want a 40 gal. 40 breeder is a great dimension. If you are going to do heavy plants you could do a 29. If you were gonna do a 29 I would get a fluval 110 filter for it. That's what I run on my 29 and mine is well overstocked.

I still do weekly waterchanges though to keep nitrates lower but I'll tell ya what heavy stocking and a decent light works great for growing tall plants.

I would just get as large of a tank as you possibly can. I think you'll find that the bigger groups of the shoaling fish will be much more enjoyable than having only 6 or 8 of them. Larger tanks are also easier to maintain as they are much more stable.
