I bought some dried indian almond leaves for my betta tank, but its been over a week since I put them in, and the water is still crystal clear.

I know that you have to remove the activated carbon, because it just absorbs all of the tannins... but I have a three stage filter - sponge, carbon, and little white cylinders in a bag ("Biomax").

Does anyone know if the biomax cylinders have to come out too?
