Just an interesting observation with my zebra danios. They used to be housed in a community tank. There was always one runty danio that was considerably smaller and thinner than the others. A month ago he started looking lethargic and didn't look like he was going to make it. I popped him into a hospital tank and got him beefed up and eating again.

I ended up rehoming him into my 36 gallon of misfits and he is doing great there. I figured he wasn't eating well since he was at the bottom of the pecking order and looked stressed out.

I recently decided to change the tank to a species only danio tank. After adding the other danios from my community the runty one is now the dominate fish in the tank. He's still small compared to the others but its interesting to see the change in dominance.

Anyone else have experiences with changes in hierarchy like that? It was kinda interesting to me!
