Hi, I had recently added a breeding group of guppies in a 40 gallon tank. In about a month disaster struck. The pair of guppies had been breeding like crazy and the 3 to start was now 40! Do you know any way to slow down the breeding?

Well they have made some form of ecosystem. As the babies swim lower in the tank they get eaten. Not a very fair way but, it works to rid 50% of the guppie's babies that show no sign of being a male or female.

I do have other fish and the babies aren't showing sings of gender yet.

Am I missing something from what you posted? You want the breeding frenzy to discontinue because of the proliferation of guppy breeding? You should have some idea of the sex of the original pair since they have already mated and spawned. That is the pair you can concentrate on for now. It won't be long until you can sex the others as well.
