I was reading some threads today and I got to thinking that my bettas might not be as happy as they could be if the water flow was a little more gentle. I have two 10 gallon tanks running aqueon 10 filters. I've tried cutting a piece of a bottle and making a pre filter sponge, but nothing seems to slow this filter down.

In your opinion is the aqueon 10, which is rated at 100 gph, too much water flow for a male betta in a 10 gallon? I may switch their tanks to sponge filters but I don't know if that's a good idea either.

Definitely too much for a betta in my opinion. Betta prefer practically still water so a low rate sponge filter should make your fish happier.

If they have a low flow area would that be suitable enough. I have alot of floating veg in my tank they tend to just chill up there... hes building his nest too. I wouldnt wanna less the flow because of the other fish... ....
... do yu think this is a problem?
