I'm new at this, my 29g has been running for about a month. Decided to add 4 japonicas a few days ago and now they're all out of sight. There's a lot of nooks and crannies to hide but I checked them all. The shrimp were about an inch big.

Other fish in the tank - 2 swordtails (2in.), 2 platies, 6 card. tetras and a cory (2.5in).

Would any of those eat the shrimp?

(Oh and they're not in the filter because there is a screen.)

Welcome to AA!

I doubt any of those would eat the shrimp, unless they were extremely(newborn) small then maybe.

Chances are your shrimp are just hiding as they get acquainted with their new surroundings. This isn't unusual at all. You'll also see them "disappear" as they go into hiding for a few days right after molting to help protect themselves.

You'd be surprised how good those little things can hide!

Check your filter. When I cleaned out my HOB filter, I almost washed a few RCS down the drain.
