Wondering if this is a sandstone rock and if it will be safe in my aquarium? I've already scrubbed it down with a brush and am currently soaking it, going to soak it for about a week.

:thanks:

Im no geologist. All I know about rocks and aquariums is:

If you pour some white vinegar on it and you get fizz, then dont put it in your tank because it will mess with your water's hardness.

Check the PH of the water in the bucket before you put the rock in, and again after a week to see if theres a change. If there is, then it will do the same thing to your tank.

I'll do that right now! Thanks for the reply, I did the vinegar thing earlier and there was no fizz but it was white wine vinegar couldn't find any regular vinegar, is that fine for testing to see if it does fizz?

Hmm.. I dont know. It would be worth getting the regular vinegar to be safe.

edit: BTW, that is a cool rock. Where did you get it?

Thanks, and I'm not sure, my dads had it sitting outside for a while he must have bought it off someone or it was given to him cause we don't get rock like that around here.
