Is juniper ok for driftwood or is it considered softwood. And what about sagebrush

I've used juniper before but the piece had spent quite some time in a pond prior to me picking it up, I typically stay away from conifers but juniper seems to resist rot pretty well for a soft wood. I've also seen sagebrush used in aquaria, but it highly resinous and very soft it would take quite a bit of preparation to insure that it was aquarium safe.

UPDATE:

The juniper is doing good, but the rose bush is soft and I never put in buck brush.
