Just got my Aquaclear 50

I just got my Aquaclear 50 filter today and installed it on my tank. Im using it as supplemental filtration to my Cascade 1000 canister on my 55g Cichlid tank. So far I am very happy. This thing is dead silent. Im thinking that I may end up using it stuffed with biomax as strictly biological filtration. The flow is pretty surprising considering the size.

Congratulations. You cannot go wrong with an Aquaclear filter. They are like mini hang-on-back filters, allowing you to use whatever media you prefer. I've had them for many years with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

One thing though, make sure you take the motor off once a month and clean inside the impeller socket, the impeller itself and the post. I usually use q-tips to do so and then flush it out with water. Great filter!
