Keeping cucumber from floating

So what are some ideas for keeping the Plecostomuses cucumber slice at the bottom?

Yo can get a veggie clip for aquariums, you can poke a form through it and let it sink. Or you can boil it.

This will sound rediculous, what I have to do is use fishing line to sew it around a rock. I can't find a veggie weight, but there's the ones with suction cups
And I don't boil them because it cooks out the nutrients, plus, they still wanna float

Just plain old rubber bands? I wanted to do that but didn't know if it was inert.
