Hi there,

This question doesn't have to do with my aquarium, but with a rogue koi I recently found in a local pond. This pond is not ornamental, so I'm not sure how he got there. I've attached two photos at the risk of embarrassing myself - I'm pretty sure this is a koi, but I'm not positive - and would like to know what I should do. Can he survive in these conditions? :thanks:

It looks like a koi but its a bit hard to tell without seeing him or her close up. Someone probably set the fish free in this pond when it got too big for a tank or small pond. Who owns the pond? It would be their decision on how to handle the fish.

Thanks for your replies. :)

It's a public pond, so I think you're right - someone probably released him. I saw him again this morning, and he seems alright. I guess they're pretty hardy. I was a bit concerned because the pond isn't the cleanest, but it's probably best to let him be.

Thanks again.
