I just had a sales rep from a large pet retailer tell me that the best way to tell male/female electric yellows apart was to see if it had an eggspot, that meant it was female.failed

The best part is, I explained venting to her and that looking at the black anal and dorsal fins "usually" tells you that it's a male and she said " I don't know about that, I'm a specialist" haha

*face palm* I don't know much about electric yellows but the stupidity at big chain pet stores kill me. I take any advice they give me with a grain of salt. Best place I found was a mom and pop fish store about 20 minutes away from where I live (worth the trip). They have given me the best advice since I got back into fish tanks.

I love the specialist. I'll go up to the tank with different Africans cichlids in it and usually want one of the more expensive fish. I'll tell the sales rep I'll have one of the assorted cichlids 4.99 and point to the 25.99 peacock. :) works all the time.
