I have a piece of red lava rock from petco. I hate it because my fish are always scratching themselves on it. Could i break it into a bunch of pieces and put it in an aqueon 55/75 filter for media? Thanks!

Yes you can, I have heard of it being used as a media many times

Ok thanks! On my 55g im using two 55/75 filters. One is stuffed with the stock cartridges and fluval pads, purigen, and nitrate/ammonia reducing pads. The other is going to have lave rock, floss, maybe chemipure, and some cartridges.
