Lid or no lid?

I was wondering if there's any effect on the aquarium if you have a lid or not.

Less evaporation in mine, lights sit on it and (almost) keeps the loaches from jumping out.

Defiantly a big difference in evaporation. I have a 65g that's been close to 90į for almost a week treating ick with a tight fitting lid. No water loss to evap. 29g tank with mollies in it hovering around 72į with no top has dropped close to 2" this week

So I'm better off with a lid. I'm trying to find a lid with led lights. Seems like they only come strip.

Better off buying a glass top and aftermarket led rig to sit on top.
