How much light do fish need? I usually turn them off at night and back on in the morning. But noticed this morning that my fish were pale but regained colors a little while later. Is this normal?

Yes. All my fish except my nocturnal ones get paler at night. Then when I turn the lights on they come back to normal color.

Yep, it is. :] My neons and cardinals get so pale after an hour or two after the lights shut off. Their red and blues fade so much, they look like dead fish.
