Look what I stepped into

Check this out. My sister in law called me last night and asked me if I wanted a 55 gallon aquarium with the stand, brand new hoods, filters, ornaments(which those I wouldn't take) and a couple other things for a price of $45.00.
The stand looks nice and all but its that glued saw dust stuff. My hubby just made me a stand for my 29 gallon that I have and it turned out really nice, so if I decide to get the 55 gallon tank from my sister in law I guess he has another one to make.

Think I should go for it and get it?

Wow, sounds like a great deal! For what it's worth, I think a lot of the relatively inexpensive stands you buy from the stores are made from MDF, particle board, etc., so that's not all that uncommon with the stand. This is how it starts though--one tank for a couple months, two tanks shortly after, six in a year...

I agree, I got a really nice meatal and finished wood stand for a 55g from Petsmart for $100.
