Male & Female Gourami Question

Hello peeps,

I currently have a male dwarf gourami who is healing from an injury, and I was thinking that when he was completely healed I would get him a female partner to reward him. I basically just wanted to know if male and female gouramis will get along ok in the tank together, and if I need a ratio of 1:1, or 1male:2females like for guppies, or what is recommended. Thanks ahead of time!

Male and female gouramis will get along. Multiple males in a tank can become territorial. I have 3 pair of gouramis in my 55 and people at one of my lfs are surprised that they are all getting along.

But to answer your question about the ratio, you don't need more than 1 female, but if you got more than 1, I think they should probably get along.

I had some pearl gouramis once, and the male and female liked to play chase but I think that's just cause the were in mateing season
