Most likely, I have two of the same species as you. But mine are older, larger, and much more colorful.

Idk why they are upside down!!! Lol. But yesterday I saw them breeding with each other. They go in a circle with each other and shake violently. Its very cool to watch.

Could be male and subdominant male because he has a little color. They look like my red jake, is that what they are?

No. I am no expert but in my opinion they are ruby reds. If you got them at petco, where I got mine, they are labeled as peacocks. But I believe they a ruby reds. No promises or guarantees!!!

on second look I believe the lighter fish may be a female due to the roundness of anal fin, what size are they

They are an inch and a half. I think it's a male and female because of the roundness of the fin.

How fast do they grow? I have a tank of 1.5 to 3 inch cichlids.

I do to, my male maybe grew 3/4 an inch and my female half. But all my fish, excluding one, are under 3 1/2 inches. This took them two months.
